28. International Biennial Brno
10 May – 26 August 2018
The Graphic Design Biennial in Brno has been creating a comprehensive and interesting “mosaic” for many years, bringing together different opinions, perspectives, and forms of presentation with its democratic platform and universal take on different aspects of graphic design.
Since its inception in 1963, the International Graphic Design Biennial in Brno, Czech Republic has become one of the most important events in the field. This year, in order to provide a basis for discussion for professional designers and the general public, the curators of the artist group Okolo will be presenting inspiring artworks with the support of an international team of experts in design practice and theory.
The main exhibition of the Biennial gives an insight into current trends in graphic design and different types of work in the field. In addition to the international show, the programme includes lectures, readings, and guided tours as well as several accompanying exhibitions dedicated either to individual designers or to a broader theme, such as the graphic design scene in the Portuguese city of Porto or current independent magazines.
Okolo is a Prague-based creative collective, consisting of Matěj Činčera, Jan Kloss and Adam Štěch, whose focus is on the “cultural city life”, reflecting the disciplines of design, architecture, art, style, and fashion. Its remit includes exhibitions, publications, and texts as well as events, in a range of collaborations with other creatives.
