Rheinland-Pfalz Design Prize.
Submission deadline: 31 July 2018
The Rhineland-Palatinate department of Economic Affairs, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture annually awards the Rheinland-Pfalz Design Prize to promote design achievements from the region. Projects in the field of visual design should be submitted by 31 July for this year’s award.
“Design not only creates corporate identity, but is also one of the factors important in ensuring long-term success in global competition [...] and in helping companies to stand out,” according to the website of the Designforum Rheinland-Pfalz. The aim of the design award is to raise commercial awareness of design as an economic factor in innovation and to encourage technical and social development.
Since 1994, the Descom Designforum has annually awarded the Design Prize on behalf of the Rheinland-Pfalz government, to design works in the alternating categories of communication and product design. The 2018 award is looking for projects in the field of communication design with a connection to the federal state either via the design company’s own headquarters, a client, or a Rhineland-Palatinate university. A total of seven design awards and thirteen commendations will be conferred, while students and graduation projects are judged in the “Design Talents” section. Submissions can be made in the categories of Corporate Design, Editorial Design, Multimedia Design, Illustration, Photography, Film/Audio, Communication in Space, and Design Studies and Research. The successful projects will be presented in a joint exhibition and published in an accompanying catalogue.
The participation fee is 50 Euros, but students are exempted from the fee.
