Dorothy Waxman Textile Design Prize 2018

Dorothy Waxman is convinced that creative fabrics can transform the design landscape in profound ways. With her insatiable curiosity and her eye for the avant-garde, she is the inspiration for this annual award.



 

Dorothy Waxman is the editor of Textile View Magazine and View on Colour in New York and works in collaboration with Edelkoort Inc. to achieve closer relationships between the textile industries in the United States and Europe.

Lidewij Edelkoort, trend researcher at Trend Union and owner of Trend Tablet, a platform for researching on futural topics, and the curator Philip Fimmano award the prize annually in honour of Dorothy Waxman to promote education, creativity, and awareness in the textile industry. Innovative ideas and inspiring creativity in the areas of textile and fashion design, or similar, are invited. Entry is open to students whose focus is on creating fashion or textiles for living and lifestyle.

The design prize is supported by the Mohawk Group, manufacturers of flooring and carpets, and awards 5,000 US dollars to the winner. The award ceremonytakes place on 6 September 2018, as part of the Talking Textiles Conference during the New York Textile Month.
