Submission deadline: 1 February 2019
Eating food is a basic, everyday need, which can also create a sense of community. However, we often forget the consequences of our own eating habits, especially in these times of economic globalisation. The Biotopia Festival, taking place in May 2019, is looking for contributions on the topic “Eat” by 1 February.
Scientists, artists, designers, chefs, experts, and other innovators are invited to dedicate themselves to the topic of the future of food at the Biotopia Festival from 24 to 26 May 2019. Submissions are possible in form of potential installations, performances, workshops, and other participatory formats. Concepts can and should reflect different perspectives and appeal to different age groups. The focus is the question of a sustainable eating culture with regard to social, and especially ecological and economic contexts leading to inspiring interdisciplinary dialogue. Approaches to the subject may come from interest in agricultural issues, food itself or taste issues at the interface of science, art, and design. Selected projects will be supported with a budget of 5,000 to 10,000 euros. An international jury will undertake the selection and evaluation of applications in English.
The Biotopia Festival takes place annually on more or less common human behaviours, activities, and processes. It leads the way for the Biotopia Naturkundemuseum Bayern, which is to be built on the same site in 2025.
