Frankfurt Book Fair
10 – 14 October 2018
This October, the Frankfurt Book Fair will be opening its doors for the 70th time. Once again this year, form will be represented; you will find us in The Arts+ area at stand M83.
For the publishing, media, and creative industries as well as book lovers from all over the world, the Frankfurt Book Fair is both an international trading centre and cultural spectacle. Thanks to numerous booths, events, discussions, lectures, and much more, visitors can find out about everything that is new in books, graphics, audiobooks, e-books, games, and films, and above all, who is behind these products. Martin Triebel from EMF Verlag describes the event as a “positive testing ground for all our publishing”, as there is nowhere else where publishers, authors, and other creators of the digital and printed book industry are as close to the reader as they are here.
The programme is about much more than just books: the Gourmet Gallery, a show kitchen in Hall 3.1, offers everything gourmets love; visitors to The Arts+ in Hall 4.1 can experience the future of publishing and creative industries in light of artificial intelligence and other innovative technical possibilities; the campaign “I’m on the Same Page” will focus on and raise awareness about universal human rights through various events and celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The fair values international and cultural exchange, be it in the form of the World Reception, a collaboration between the Frankfurt Book Fair and the German Foreign Ministry, which this year is dedicated to the topic of “Global Citizenship – Democracy and Engagement” or at the Campus Weekend with a special programme for students. Georgia is this year’s host country at the Book Fair, and presents its diverse literature and cultural landscape under the slogan “Georgia – Made by Characters”.
