Friction, Wear and Wear Protection
6 – 8 May 2014
The global requirement for energy and resources continues to rise steadily and appears to pose a growing challenge to both society in general and the economy. Experts from various disciplines will meet in Karlsruhe to discuss how to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Following previous symposia that have taken place every three years under the umbrella of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Materialkunde (DGM) [German Society of Material Science], this year’s conference will focus on the theme of “Friction, Wear and Wear Protection.” Friction will be at the heart of the topics discussed. As bodies moving against one another not only cause friction energy but also wear and tear, systematic approaches will be examined that avoid such abrasion.
Running in parallel with the conference, there will be an exhibition covering the areas of physics, chemistry, materials science and technology.
