I Never Read. Learning to Read
13 – 16 June 2018
For four days, Basel’s art book fair focuses on the “relationship of text, contemporary art production, art presentation and the book” according to the curators, who are organising an accompanying programme this year entitled “I never Read. Learning to Read”.
The I Never Read Art Book Fair Basel promises to open up new perspectives on books, reading, and the written word. In fact, the fair integrates other aspects, too, such as collecting and archiving analogue and digital libraries. Within this context, workshops, presentations, performances, and exhibitions will be taking place.
During the fair, for example, the Czech magazine Fotograf, which is published twice a year and offers information about photographic art, will present their issues. As will the publishing project But We Listen, which was founded in conjunction with students at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design Basel this year, and focuses on drawings, zines, and printed products.
During the fair, a varied programme offers insights into the various processes involved in publishing, and will include discussions, workshops, readings, and book signings.
The art book fair I Never Read takes place in parallel with Design Miami/Basel and and offers a platform to publishers, authors, artists, and designers. In addition to established major players, independent and emerging projects are also represented. The fair is free of charge to attend and offers the general public access to large and small productions.
