Incipit. Milan Design Week
8 – 13 April 2014
Last spring, the Italian designers and entrepreneurs, Roberto Hoz and Marta Bernstein, founded the design studio, Incipit, with the aim of supporting young designers and facilitating their leap into the spotlight. Now, for the first time, as part of the Milan furniture fair, they are presenting the work of the designers they support.
Incipit is a platform of the ongoing dialogue between aspiring and established designers who help with everything from technical production to marketing. In addition to realising and implementing the projects, their primary role is a supportive one, overcoming the difficulties in dialogue with traditional manufacturers and entrepreneurs. In April, the work by these design talents, characterised by this new and unconventional teamwork, can be seen at the studio’s premiere at the international design show, Ventura Lambrate. Ilaria Innocenti, a designer who lives and works in Milan, presents a ceramic container whose handle is made of copper steel wire and is wound all around the entire vessel, as part of her Muslet series. The Frenchman, Philippe Tabet, has produced a stylised, headless pig in the shape of a piggy bank in his Louis series and Tommaso Caldera has used the internationally famous carrara marble to make a functional mortar for his Pita project.
