It’s a Book 2018
Academy of Fine Arts, Leipzig
17 March 2018
In 2018, the atrium of the Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig will once again host the book fair for alternative publishing projects called It’s a Book. From noon to 9 pm, interested visitors and students will have the opportunity to exchange their views with a broad range of people who are active in the international independent publishing scene. Lectures and panels from the It’s a Book symposium will also be available throughout the day.
Visitors can also visit the Walter Tiemann Prize and the “Class of Ludovic Balland” exhibitions in addition to the long lyric night during the book fair.
Under this year’s banner of “It’s a book, it’s the old to protest, it’s the new to request” a range of speakers at the symposium will examine theoretically the current state of independent publishing. After an introduction by Sophia Eisenhut and Tobias Klett, typographer and artist Till Gathmann from Berlin will give a lecture, followed by Florian Ebner, curator at the Centre Pompidou. Next up are Isabel Seiffert and Christoph Miler from Studio Offshore in Zurich, who are also the designers and co-editors of the Migrant Journal. Rounding off the symposium will be the creators of the artist collective Hammann von Mier from Munich. The It’s a Book day ends with a party in the Atelierhaus Frühauf.
Admission for all events is free.
