15 – 27 March 2014
Increasingly, mosques are becoming part of every townscape and their buildings are often connected with much controversy. Against this topical backdrop, Christian Welzer, the curator of the exhibition “Moschee - Perspektiven einer Bauaufgabe”, examines contemporary Islamic places of worship in Germany, beyond Europe and in the Islamic world.
The exhibition will open with a symposium on 14 March (4 - 6 p.m.). The contributors, Paul Böhm (Böhm Architekten, Cologne), Wilfried Dechau (author and photographer, Stuttgart), Alen Jasarevic (Jasarevic Architekten, Augsburg), Markus Radermacher (Buildings controller for the city of Frankfurt) and Markus Eichberger (Office for town planning, transport and building management, Offenbach) will discuss the present and the communication of religious architecture in European cities using mosques as an example.
