The Aram Gallery in London is presenting models and experiments by designers and architects for the ninth time using the slogan “Prototypes and Experiments”. The exhibition looks how an idea develops into a product and documents the process.

The Aram Gallery was founded in 2002 and, every year, it organises five exhibitions on contemporary design. This non-commercial gallery aims to be a platform for ideas and to generate inspiration. Works with an experimental approach to design are exhibited by both established and up-and-coming designers. The format of “Prototypes and Experiments” gives an insight into which methods and experiments play a role in the design process. Each exhibitor displays the material samples, models, drawings and experiments demonstrating the process involved in producing a single project. As a result, it is possible to understand the purpose of the individual methods and the extent to which they support the designer in reaching his or her decisions that are also reflected in the end product.

For the first time this year, the process drawings visualising the concepts will be on display. The processes by a selection of international designers and architects will be exhibited, including those by Zuza Mengham, De Allegri and Fogale, Ineke Hans, Map Project Office and Studio Furthermore.
