Roger Humbert.Concrete Photography
Rappaz Museum Basel
12 January – 27 February 2014
The Basel Rappaz Museum describes Roger Humbert as a “pioneer of concrete photography” and, in addition to his early photographic work, is now exhibiting his digital images and images taken since 1990. In his work, Humbert concentrates on the photographic process itself and uses light primarily as a photographic stylistic device.
Since the 1950s, Humbert has created an extensive collection of photographic works. In these works, he detaches himself from the objects and makes photography itself the concrete object whilst using light sources experimentally and as key themes.
The exhibition’s private view takes place on 11 January from 5–8 p.m. and will be introduced in the presence of the artist by Ricarda Gerosa, curator of the Rappaz Museum, and Katharina Lang, curator of the Kunstsammlung Zurich. The exhibition will be officially closed on 27 February at 6 p.m.
