The AOI Illustration Awards 2014
Registration deadline: 16 March 2014
Students and professionals are once again invited this year to submit their illustrations from various disciplines to AOI, a non-profit company for promoting contemporary illustration and maintaining professional standards. Entrants are encouraged to use this opportunity to present their illustrative work at the final exhibition in Somerset House.
Since it was founded in 1973, AOI has been working with companies and universities with the aim of advancing the image of professional illustrators. Its members, freelance illustrators, agents, students and art schools, seek to advocate their professional interests and to support future generations in training. The competition is aimed at students, graduates, post-doctoral students and professional illustrators who have produced work between 1 January 2013 and 16 March 2014. There is a total of eight categories - advertising, books, children’s books, design, editorial, public realm, research and knowledge communication and self-initiated works - which will be considered by the jury selecting the shortlisted candidates in April 2014. From these, there will be awards for one winner in each of the New Talent and Professional categories in all eight categories (June 2014). Finally, the works submitted by the category winners and the shortlisted candidates will be featured in the exhibition in central London and in the accompanying competition catalogue.
