The Coca-Cola bottle turns 100

Transparent, graceful, stylish – the iconic Coca-Cola bottle is all of these things. It first appeared exactly 100 years ago. To mark this anniversary, the High Museum of Art is holding the exhibition “The Coca-Cola Bottle: An American Icon at 100” in cooperation with the drinks manufacturer.

“(im)possible! Artists as Architects” is the new exhibition at the Marta Museum in Herford, in which artists have addressed the theme of architecture. The results are now on display in the museum for the first time. The main attractions are walk-though spatial structures, drawings of utopian urban plans and models of potential buildings.
Cannes Outdoor Lions

Every year the most creative advertising campaigns are presented at the international Cannes Lions Festival on the Côte d’Azur. Among the many categories of the festival, the Outdoor division is gaining increasing prominence. In 2014 over 5,000 outdoor advertising campaigns from all over the world were submitted for consideration. The Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe is presenting the best of them in an exhibition entitled “Cannes Outdoor Lions”.

We commissioned the Dutch visual artist, Sigrid Calon, to illustrate the latest issue of the magazine. She has created motifs for the cover and the articles in the Focus section of form 258. All five motifs can be acquired from today as limited edition risographs as one-offs or in series from our shop on form Edition.
Bauhaus Lab 2015

Under the title “Cracks in the Curtain Wall – Beyond an Architecture of Cleanliness,” the Bauhaus Lab 2015 is holding a three-month programme for architectural research at the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation. Applicants from the fields of architecture, design, art and curatorship are eligible to take part in the workshop.

Blickfang Stuttgart 2015

This year sees the 23rd edition of Blickfang Stuttgart and all design fans are invited to the birthplace of the design sales fair held in the Liederhalle in Stuttgart. Every year, a new international group of artists, designers, photographers, curators, writers and poets work at the Jan van Eyck Academie, the multi-form institute for fine art, design and reflection in Maastricht. At the end of their residency, the participants share the results that have been created in individual and interdisciplinary group projects. The Open Studios launch will take place on 6 March at 5 pm. The studios can be visited on 7 March from 10 am to 5 pm.
Adventures of the Black Square

If you go to Rotterdam to visit the photography museum on Wilhelminapier, you will first travel (on foot, by bicycle, public transport or even your own car) through the centre and then over the Erasmusbrug (Erasmus bridge) to the Kop van Zuid area of the city. The trip to the peninsula displays the real Rotterdam with its latest landmarks, high-rises, construction sites and spaces, and all the people moving around hither and yon. This same town can be rediscovered from another view in snapshots of the past 175 years in the exhibition “Rotterdam in the Picture”.

An exhibition of the early works of Barbara Kruger at the Skarstedt Gallery in London showcases large black and white photographs with provocative titles in thick Futura font. In the works on display from the collection from the 1980s, the American artist examines cultural constructions of power, identity and sexuality through the juxtaposition of text and images: “In my work I try to question the seemingly natural appearance of images through the textual commentary which accompanies them.”
