This year, the Szpilman Award, which promotes the performing arts and transitory works, will be bestowed in Berlin for the eighth time. Applicants, either individuals or teams, have until September 30 to send in a detailed description of their project, which must have been realized between October 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010. The winner will be announced by October 31 together with the seven best performers.

The prize is the “jackpot stipend”, including the traveling trophy, ten days’ holiday in Cimochowizna (Poland) and prize money consisting of donations which will be announced at the end of September (Szpilman continually increases the sum, at present it is 500 zloty, or €120). Participation is free. All prizewinners will have the opportunity to perform their works together at the Szpilman Award group exhibition.
