Poster Number 20
For a little over 20 years the French designers Michael Amzalag and Mathias Augustyniak, alias
M/M (Paris), have been practising their successful blend of graphics, print, drawing, photography, film, art direction and typography. Their distinctively romantic and yet rather rebellious-looking imagery has come to define a certain area of fashion and music graphics and be associated with the names of clients ranging from Björk to Madonna, Marc Jacobs and Yohji Yamamoto.
The young half German, half Danish, designer
Gesa Hansen grew up in Germany as part of a furniture-making family. She studied at the Bauhaus-Universität in Weimar before moving to Paris aged 21 where, she says, she applied for an internship with M/M (Paris) but ended up working for the architect Jean Nouvel instead. Now a successful designer in her own right, she has created a range of furniture for her label, The Hansen Family, and last year also co-founded the interior design office Hansen Feutry Bihr which is in the process of creating interiors for the actress Marina Fois and the boutique chain Le Mont St Michel.
