Media furniture
The global spread of electronic mass media has kicked off a discourse that looks not only at the surfaces of computer and television screens, but sheds new light on pre-modern means of communication and information systems, in other words “old media.” This book presents a compilation of texts that discuss the role of “furniture as media” and argue that they firmly belong within the material culture. Different perspectives from art history, literature, philosophy and psychology are presented.
