The comics and graphics festival known as The Millionaires Club is taking place at Conne Island in Leipzig at the same time as the Leipzig Book Fair. The festival gives independent artists from all over the world the opportunity to present their work. Initiated in 2013 by a group of students from the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig, The Millionaires Club has always offered a platform for comic artists who do not really identify with the Leipzig Book Fair. Lectures, readings and workshops, tombola, tin can shooting, live tattooing and screen printing make for a lively programme.
The Millionaires Club
It’s a Book, it’s a Role That You Take, it’s a Game Being Played.
For ten years now, alongside the Book Fair, the independent publishing fair “It’s a Book” has been taking place in the Lichthof of the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig(HGB), now enjoying its sixth year as part of a project seminar organised by HGB students. The event, enriched in recent years by a symposium with an increasingly institutional character, is this time going immersive and interactive with the help of media platforms from broadcasting and radio plays. Thematically speaking, the event is about language and communication in (independent) publishing. The aim is to examine the relationship between written text and spoken language.
