Moisés Hernández Design Studio for Mexican Secretary of Culture, The Palm Project, project assistants: Fernanda Leal and Sandy Avellaneda

Nº 277
May/Jun 2018

Mexico is a land of contrasts: lauded as a progressive economy and famed as a holiday destination – one that is rich in history, heritage, and craft traditions – it is also plagued by political and economic crises as well as by natural disasters.

Design has been attributed a significant role in the country’s recent development, as shown by the election of Mexico City as World Design Capital 2018. For our next issue, we’ll be taking a tour of Mexico’s design scene, examining its roots, assessing current trends and influences, and highlighting key protagonists.

In addition, we’ll be continuing our reflection on design thinking – this time from the practitioner’s standpoint, exploring the renewed interest in design manifestos, and considering the psychological impact of colour.

Nº 277 will be published on 19 April 2018.
