Daniel Palillo. Mainly Portraits
– 29 May 2016
Until 29 May 2016, the Design Museum in Helsinki is exhibiting work by the Finnish artist Daniel Palillo, who works at the boundary between visual art and fashion design. Using his sculptural pieces he communicates his view of the fashion world which is characterised by his own experience in the field. Instead of classic fashion design, Palillo has now made sculptural work and painting his medium.
Palillo, born in 1981 , and who first studied fashion design at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, designed his latest collection “Paintings about the Fashion World” in 2014 based on his own paintings, speculating about a fashion collection for the year 2045. In addition to this approach, Palillo also created items of clothing based on objects that could be described as three-dimensional paintings. The use of large-format textiles, that work as sculptural elements, are a fixed component of his creations. Exaggerated sizes, intensive colours and a humorous approach are the main characteristics of Daniel Palillo’s work.
