Malmö Opera House
4 – 5 September 2018
This two-day conference in Malmö invites international speakers to discuss the complexity and trends in the digital world.
The conference focuses on three areas: human behaviour, new technologies, and their development. The way in which the topics are presented, discussed, and investigated, however, is varied. Speakers from various disciplines from all over the world are expected to attend, from neuro-researchers, to activists, to design experts and artists. The organisers want to evoke mutual understanding and tolerance for other points of view with their broad spectrum of disciplines. However, they also assume that culture, technology, art, business, and politics often face the same challenges and problems, and that it can be helpful to find out about the solutions discovered in other disciplines. The presentations look at topical subjects that influence everyday life and the immediate future: in her presentation “Broken Promise Land”, the interaction designer Shu Yang Lin tackles the question of how we can make the internet a place that promotes democracy, openness, and freedom of expression, while it counteracts fake news and psychographic profiling, by which one understands the act of collecting various items of information about the characteristics, interests, and personal opinions of consumers. The development of genetic design will also be discussed: “Designing Nature” considers the advantages and consequences of genetic engineering.
In addition to the conference, there is the option of taking part in a festival consisting of various workshops, seminars, musical, cultural and culinary offerings. Interested parties can register on the event’s website independently of their participation in the conference.
