Vienna Biennale 2015.Ideas for Change

There is no question that the digital modernity has the potential to provide new ideas for sustainable and innovative models for living. The first edition of the Vienna Biennale 2015 is looking at the consequences that result from this both for design and for architecture and fine arts.

The online platform Blankspace has taken on the task of encouraging people to think about architecture. And in doing so, unusual paths are forged. This year’s competition has taken a medium not typical of the industry as its theme: “Dear Architecture” takes place in the form of letters.

For almost 20 years now, Digital Production magazine has been offering the Animago Award for work from the areas of 3D animation and stills, visual effects and visualisation. The house where Josef Hoffmann (1870–1956) was born is now run by the MAK Wien and the Moravian Gallery in Brno as the Josef Hoffmann Museum. The exhibition “The private Josef Hoffmann: Apartment Tours” gives visitors an insight into the private sphere of the Viennese architect.
Nachtschicht 2015. Berlin Design Night

Walk the Line

Drawing is a classic medium of expression in visual art. The exhibition “Walk the Line. New Paths in Drawing” demonstrates that the tools that we use for drawing are much more diverse than pen and paper in an overview show at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, featuring 105 works.

From 11 to 28 June 2015 Berlin will host Make City – the Festival for Architecture and Urban Alternatives – for the first time. For three weeks the German capital will become an international and multidisciplinary laboratory, welcoming experts and those interested in “city-making”.
OLED.Licht der Zukunft?

OLED, the next generation of LEDs, has redefined light and is taking its area of application into an entirely new dimension. These new sources of light also offer new possibilities to light designers.
